About this course
The saxophone is one of the few instruments that can carry a whole room — in a church, at a wedding, on a record, on a street corner. This course takes you from never having held one to playing with other musicians and improvising your own solos. You start before you even buy: alto or tenor, what to pay for, what to avoid. Then your first sound, embouchure and breath, every note on the instrument, and reading music from scratch. From there: tone work that separates a beginner from a player (long tones, overtones, vibrato), all twelve major scales, your first real songs, the blues scale and 12-bar improvisation, jazz chord changes and ii-V-I, playing behind a singer in a worship band, altissimo, and a practice routine you can keep. Every lesson is taught on camera by a working saxophonist. The practical tasks are recordings, because the only way to mark a saxophone is to hear it. About 6 hours of core video, plus nearly 2 hours of optional deep dives.
